Al-Assad, Mubarak review Iraqi crisis, Israeli aggression, Arab soliderity

Syria's President Bashar al-Assad and President Egypt's Hosni Mubarak held a meeting at al-Shaab palace attended for the Syrian side by the deputy premier and foreign minister Farouk al-Shara, the minister of information Adnan Omran and the minister of communications Muhammad Bashir al-Munajjid.
The Egyptian side was attended by members of the delegation accompanying President Mubarak. Then the two presidents held a bilateral meeting.
The two presidents reviewed the international position concerning the Iraqi crisis in light of the UN Security Council resolution issued recently. They stressed the importance of honoring international legitimacy in order for avoiding Iraq any military attacks. They welcomed what Iraq had announced in its readiness to facilitate the work of the UN inspectors for ensuring success to their mission and availing the way to lift the sanctions imposed on Iraq, to end the sufferings of the Iraqi people and to enhance the demands on evacuating the all mass destruction weapons in the region including including nuclear weapons.
The talks also dealt with the situation in the region and the developments of conditions in the occupied Palestinian territories and Israel's rejection to comply with the international and regional efforts to halt the aggression against the Palestinian people and implement UN security council resolutions in this regard.
The two sides stressed that there is no way to achieve peace and stability in the Middle East except through the implementation of UN security council resolutions providing for Israel's withdrawal from all Arab territories occupied in 1967, and according to the Arab initiative adopted during the Beirut recent Arab summit.
The two presidents reviewed Arab conditions and stressed the importance of continued work in order to strengthen the unity of the Arab line and revitalizing the mechanism of joint Arab work so as to preserve the interests of the Arab nation in this critical phase.
President al-Assad and his wife held an al-Iftar banquet in honor of President Mubarak and his wife and members of the accompanying delegation.
President Mubarak and Mrs. Mubarak arrived in Damascus yesterday afternoon in a visit to Syria.
At the Damascus airport he was welcomed by President al-Assad, his wife, the foreign minister Farouk al-Shara and the Egyptian ambassador in Damascus and officials concerned.
President Mubarak is accompanied by a delegation including the information minister Safwat al-Sharif, the foreign minister Ahmad Maher, the policies secretaries at the general secretariat of the democratic national party Jamal Mubarak and the chairman of the Egyptian presidency court ( divan) Zakaraya Azmi.
Yesterday evening President Mubarak and his wife returned back to Egypt following a short visit to Syria.
