Washington reconsiders all its aids for the Arab states
Regional-USA, Economics, 11/18/2002
An official at the US Department of State said that the US is reconsidering its aids to the Arab states in order to define to what extent it can redirect them in programs encouraging democracy and the supremacy of the law.
The official added that this revision includes aid to Egypt, the second largest state which gets American aid from the US in the Middle East after Israel.
The American official explained "we are currently making a comprehensive revision for all our aid programs in the Arab world including Egypt. This will be in the framework of an American initiative for partnership in the Middle East."
