Egypt-USA, Politics, 11/18/2002

The US under secretary of state for the Middle East affairs David Satterfield in Cairo yesterday concluded a tour which covered Israel, Jordan and the Palestinian territories aimed at giving a push forward to the American peace efforts in the region.

Satterfield said following two meeting he held with the Egyptian foreign minister Ahmad Maher and the advisor of the Egyptian President for political affairs Osama al-Baz "I have confirmed and renewed the commitment of the US President ( George Bush) and the commitment of the US administration to what we do think" in that the best is to put an end to violence, follow up and resum the peace track which gives hope to the Israelis and the Palestinians.
