Jordan: Shbeilat interrogated over provoking violence
Jordan, Politics, 11/16/2002

The governor of Amman yesterday summoned former Jordanian parliamentarian and chairman of the "Zionism fighting society" and the official for the committee in charge of supporting Iraq, Leith Shbeilat.

The Jordanian minister of information and official spokesman for the Jordanian government Muhammad al-Edwan said in a statement that Shbeilat might be arrested on charges of provoking people for violence and challenging the security forces.

Al-Edwan indicated that Shbeilat is increasing such statements in his appearances at Arab satellite TV stations.

To this effect, Shbeilat's wife indicated that the Jordanian police summoned her husband to be interrogated by the governor of Amman.
