Arafat commends the Egyptian role in solving the inter- Palestinian differences
Palestine-Egypt, Politics, 11/16/2002

The chairman of the Egyptian general intelligence Lt. Gen. Omar Suleiman on Thursday met with the chairman of the Palestinian Authority Yasser Arafat in Ramullah.

Lt. Gen. Suleiman played a basic role in the efforts aiming to re-organizing the Palestinian security department and did not made any press statement in conclusion of the meeting.

For his part, Arafat praised the role played by Egypt in order to settle differences inside the "Palestinian house." Arafat said that "the meeting was very important and the Egyptians can take part in providing a success for the meetings between Fatah and Hamas." The two Palestinian movements Fatah and Hamas achieved an agreement during the talks held in Cairo and ended in "strengthening and perpetuating the Palestinians national unity," and rejected the "alternative leadership."
