Death of Muslim Brothers guide Mustafa Mashhour

It was officially announced yesterday the death of the General Guide of the Ikhwan al-Muslimin (Muslim Brothers) group, Mustafa Mashhour, after he had spent two weeks in Coma.

His death is expected to leave disorder in the lines of Ikhwan al-Muslimin, at a time when their groups are exposed to campaigns of arrest by authorities, also in a time where there is a conflict for the leadership between two trends "the historical"( traditional one) and the "Middle generation."

Mashhour ( 83 year old) will be eulogized today, according to his assistant, consultant Mamoun al-Hudeibi, who run the affairs of the group since Mashhour had a stroke on October 29th.

Worthy mentioning that the Muslim Brothers group was established in Egypt in 1928 at the initiative of Hassan al-Banna before this group was spread in most of the Arab and Islamic countries. Since 1954, this group is banned in Egypt, but it proposes candidates to the elections in independent lists and has 17 seats at the parliament which includes 454 parliamentarians.
