Morocco, Sports, 11/14/2002
Three-time 1500 m world champion, and current world record holder, Morocco's Hicham El Guerrouj, is planning to run his first 5000 meters, scheduled on June 12th, in Ostrava, Czech Republic.
El Gerrouj will hold next Monday in Ostrava a press conference to officially announce his participation to this event scheduled as a posthumous homage to Czech Athletic legend, Emile Zatopek, who garnered three gold medals in Helsinki Olympic Games (1952), in 5,000, 10.000 meters and marathon.
Winner of year 2002 Golden League, El Guerrouj is among this year's most likely candidates to Best Athlete of the year title.
