Satterfield in Amman meets with Abul Ragheb, Muasher

The US delegate David Satterfield has announced following his meeting yesterday with the Jordanian prime minister Ali Abul Ragheb and with the foreign minister Marwan Muasher that Iraq has to abide by UN security council resolution on dismantling its weapons.

He told journalists that "Iraq has to honor the resolution which was unanimously voted by the UN security council and was clear concerning what this country should do according to a set timetable."

Satterfield added "we have talked about the commitment ( of President George Bush) to seek a halt to violence and terrorism and to resume the political process which gives the Palestinians and the Israelis as well as the region the glimpse of hope."

The US Department of State official arrived in Jordan coming from Areiha, to take part today and tomorrow in the meeting for the Quartet committee on the elections in the Palestinian territories due to be in January 2003 and reforming the Palestinian establishments.
