One Palestinian infant killed, nine wounded in Israeli tanks bombardment in Gaza

Five Palestinians were wounded yesterday in Israeli Apache planes bombardment against Asqoula area in al-Zeitoun quarters in Gaza, while Israeli officials threatened more operations against the Palestinian people.

Palestinian witnesses said that the Israeli helicopters fired 7 missiles against a civilian area in the heart of Gaza targeting a building including a smith workshop. This bombardment, however, resulted in destroying a two floor building and great damages in the adjoining houses.

One Palestinian was greatly strongly wounded following the attempt made by one Israeli settler to kill him by his car near al-Teira town in the territory of 1948.

One Palestinian youth was strongly wounded in Toulkarem, while the child Muhammad Abu al-Naja ( 8 year old) died because of his wounds he had in Rafah.

The Israeli forces arrested three members of the Hamas movement near Emanuel settlement and another Palestinian in al-Mawasi quarters near Ghoush Katif settlement, where one shell fell and greatly damaged one of the buildings.

One Palestinian resistance man opened fire at an Israeli position near Ghadid settlement and one Israeli settler was stabbed in Kreyat Malakhi settlement in the territories of 1948 ( Israel).

Meantime, sources in the Israeli police said that the total number of Israelis killed in the attack carried out by a Palestinian on Sunday evening against Meitzr settlement was five and that the Israeli forces continue searching for the executor of the operation.

In another development, the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon renewed his threat that his government will continue the policy of killing and destruction called his defense minister Shaoul Mofaz to intensify his military operations inside the Palestinian cities and villages in order to eliminate the Palestinian Intifada.

To this effect, the chairman of the Palestinian authority Yasser Arafat said that he has formed an investigation committee in this operation which was carried out in the Israeli Meirtz settlement.

Arafat added in a statement that research in this issue will be made seriously and there is an investigations committee formed for this objective.

The Palestinian authority denounced the operation, stressing the need of the Israeli withdrawal from the Palestinian territories as the sole solution which can ensure security for the Israelis and the Palestinians.
