An explosion in Ein al-Helweh
Lebanon, Local, 11/11/2002

An explosion took place in a building including the office of al-Saeqa organization in Ein al-Helweh camp for the Palestinian refugees in Lebanon early morning yesterday.

Palestinian security sources said that an unidentified man threw dynamite at the building and this resulted in breaking the glass and inflecting damages in the wall of al- Saeqa group which is pro the al-Baath ruling party in Syria in one of the largest Palestinian groups in Ein al-Helweh camp near the port of Sidon.

No one was wounded in the attack which sources said was the first which targets a side linked to Syria in the camp. Syria has 20,000 soldiers in Lebanon.

This explosion, however, comes following a series of explosions which took place in Ein al-Helweh, where tension has increased since the eruption of clashes between Islamists and fighters supporters of the Fatah movement which is led by the Palestinian President Yasser Arafat in August and resulted in three killings,
