Jordanians evacuated from the Philippines
Jordan-Philippines, Politics, 11/9/2002

The Philippines authorities yesterday evacuated two Jordanian suspected to have links to what it called terrorist groups but failed to find enough evidence to convict them.

The Philippines immigration commissioner Andrea Domingo said in a statement that the two Jordanians, Muhammad Ameen al-Ghaffari and Ahmad Abi Ltaif Jubran, were evacuated to Amman on board of a plane for the Gulf airlines due to the fact that they do not have travel documents.

Domingo explained that despite claims on their links to terrorist groups, however, the immigration office decided that it is not possible to seize them because there are no criminal accusations that can convict them before the court.

He indicated that the two Jordanians who were arrested separately are on the black list which prevents them from entering the Philippines.

Officials at the migration office said that al-Ghaffari was arrested in October and was interrogated on the explosion which took place on October 2nd in Zambwanga and resulted in killing one American soldier and three civilian Philippinese.

Jubran, on the other hand, was arrested on May 16 after the American authorities informed the Philippinese authorities that the latter is suspected that he will carry out a suicide operation.
