Divisions increase among Iraqi opposition

Splits in the lines of the Iraqi opposition have been escalated; while an opposition group accused in a statement its opponents of serving the interests of the Iraqi intelligence and attempting to benefit from the bloodshed of the Iraqis.
News reports said that the "Iraqi national agreement group," in its statement was replying to criticism addressed to it by the rival Iraqi National Congress on the arrangements of a proposed conference for the Iraqi opposition to be held in Brussels this month.
Officials at the Iraqi National Congress said that the "Iraqi national agreement group" and its allies, which are the two Kurdish groups and a Shiite group, are trying to occupy all the seats in the proposed conference in an attempt to control the authority.
The US which tries to topple the Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, is mediating to settle this conflict.
The national agreement group which basically includes former officers in the Iraqi armed forces and former members in the ruling Baath party replied to those who criticized them by strong criticism.
It said that all accusations stated by the mass media clearly unveil that the secret objectives behind it go beyond personal desires, and that it serves the terrorist intelligence centers which belong to Saddam's regime.
