Chinese ME delegate meets with Maher, Moussa

Following his meeting with the Egyptian foreign minister Ahmad Maher yesterday in Cairo, the Chinese special envoy to the Middle East Wang Ching said that view points between Egypt and China are "identical."

The Chinese delegate said that China will work "for enhancing cooperation with Egypt in this regard because achieving peace in the Middle East will contribute to strengthening peace at the world level." He explained that "views were exchanged on the situation in the Middle East and ways of giving the ME peace process a push forward."

The Chinese delegate added that his country, being a permanent member at the UN Security Council "is shouldering its responsibilities towards reviving peace in the Middle East. And we are seeking to strengthen cooperation with the Arab states to this effect." In conclusion of his meeting yesterday with the Arab League chief Amr Moussa in Cairo, the Chinese delegate called for the need of a genuine move of the peace process in the region. Wang told journalists that talks centered on the situation in the Middle East region and the need of a genuine move for the peace process in order to establish a lasting and permanent peace in the region." He added that his country is working to finding out a just and comprehensive solution for the Middle East question, noting that "China has contacts with the sides of conflict and supports all international efforts made to boost the peace process in the Middle East."

After Egypt, the Chinese delegate will head for Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Israel and the Palestinian territories, according to the Chinese embassy in Cairo.
