Israeli settler killed in a Palestinian operation, Netanyahu competes with Sharon to win votes of Israeli extremists

The Palestinian resistance fighters yesterday carried out an operation in an Israeli settlement in Gaza that resulted in killing one Israeli settler and wounding other two in an attack carried out by a Palestinian who was able to sneak to the settlement and open fire at one settler before he was shot.

Ezz Eddine al-Qassam group, the military wing of the Hamas movement, claimed responsibility for this operation noting that the person who executed it is Ismael Breis ( 25 year old).

Meantime, the Palestinian youth Naser Abu Qilbat ( 16 year old) was wounded by the fire of the Israeli soldiers in Nablus while the Israeli forces carried out a campaign of arrest that targeted scored of the Palestinians of the territories of 1948 under the pretext that they are preparing to carry out operations against Israeli targets in addition to other 17 Palestinians from various parts in the cities and villages of the West Bank.

Meantime, Shaoul Mofaz stressed continued Israel policy against the Palestinians and continued besiege of the Palestinians cities and towns. Mofaz stressed he will give special interests to security measures in order to ensure protection for the Israeli settlements.

Netanyahu, on the other hand, started his campaign for the presidency of the Likud party competing with Ariel Sharon, just hours following Sharon's call for an early elections in Israel to be held in February 2003.

Netanyahu had introduced himself as the suitable man for taking stances supported by extremists against the Palestinians, in an attempt to win the confidence of the Israeli voters who had before entrusted Sharon in his commitment to crush the Palestinian Intifada within 100 days.

Netanyahu announced he will reject the foundation of a Palestinian state by the end of 2003, as stated in the road map proposed by the USA.
