Somalia, Politics, 11/7/2002
Leaders of the Somali factions will be meeting in the Kenyan Aldourit city in order to draw a new federal constitution for the county which was torn by war.
The BBC said that the first mission of the participants in the meeting have to accomplish is to define which members of committees will draw the draft of the new constitution during the few coming months.
These delegations agreed last week to halt fighting during the negotiations process.
The radio said quoting sources in the Somali police saying that ten persons including business men and doctors were kidnapped in the Somali capital Makadishu during the few past days. the radio indicated that the Somali war fatigued the Somali people.
However, the international community stresses support for the peace talks and threatens to impose sanctions on the groups which oppose the realization of an agreement.
Gunmen started to found illegal inspection point around the main markets where they do collect assets from public buses.
At least four persons were wounded on Sunday when gunmen tries to kidnap a doctor to the south of Makadishu.
Sources close to the gunmen said that the attack came as revenge over kidnapping a businessman by persons who belong to the same tribe of the doctor.
The current negotiations are considered the most recent in the series of failed attempts to establish peace in Somalia since toppling the regime of Muhammad Seyad Berri in 1991.
According to the agreement signed last week, its signatories approved a truce, paving the way before the federal government, fighting terrorism, ensuring the safety of foreigners and relief workers and commitment to the resolutions of the reconciliation conference.
