Kuwaiti hunting camps dismantled
Kuwait, Politics, 11/4/2002
The Kuwaiti security authorities on Saturday dismantled scores of camps instaled in the northern border area with Iraq which are used for hunting purposes and prevented the access of civilians to it. This measure was taken in order to use these camps in the joint military exercises and maneuvers with American military units.
Kuwait's first deputy prime minister and minister of foreign affairs Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah said yesterday in a statement issued by the Kuwaiti dailies that this measure was taken in order to safeguard the life of citizens. He added that the return of matters to normalcy will not take a long period of time.
Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad expressed his hope that peace will be overwhelming in the region. He stressed that Kuwait has no connection to efforts to direct a military attack against Iraq.
Just recently Kuwait had decided to close the northern area with Iraq, following the attack against the American soldiers in Filka island.
