Sudanese consulate in Kenya
Sudan-Kenya, Politics, 11/4/2002

President of Kenya Daniel Arap Moi has officially approved the opening of a Sudanese consulate in the Kenyan city of Lukshiko from which humanitarian aids for Southern Sudan are sent.

The Sudanese daily al-Ayam ( days) on Saturday quoted well-informed governmental sources as saying that the consent of President Moi was handed over to both the UN and the Sudanese government in a step that coincided with the termination of sanctions on 22 relief sites in southern Sudan as from Friday. The UN relief planes can fly to 183 sites without any obstacles, according to the agreement signed between the Sudanese government and the rebellions movement in Nairobi on October 25 and 26.

Worthy mentioning that Khartoum used to protest the operations of relief aids transports between Lukshinko airport without the supervision of Sudanese control because certain relief organizations used to transport weapons and equipment for the rebels movement under the banner of humanitarian aids.
