Five leading figures take part in Arab Women Summit

The second Arab women summit will be held on Sunday with the participation of five leading Arab figures including Suzanne Mubarak of Egypt, Princess Lalla Meryem of Morocco, Andrea Lahoud of Lebanon, and Fatma Al-Bashir of Sudan, in addition to the host Queen Rania of Jordan said chief of the Jordanian delegation Mrs. Laila Sherif.

In a press conference on Friday, Sherif said high-level delegations from all Arab states, except Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Somalia and the Comoros, will take part in the event.

She said that Lebanese President Emile Lahoud will address the summit as he holds the current presidency of the Arab summit.

"The message would be read out by his wife, Mrs. Andrea," she added.

Sherif praised Mrs. Mubarak's initiative to hold Arab Women summit. She added that Mrs. Mubarak will address the opening session and will be followed by Queen Rania's address.

Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa, Bahia Hariri of the Hariri Foundation and Farakhunda Hassan who will deliver the Egyptian National Council for Women's speech.
