Yemen officially rejects accusing it of conspiring against Afourki
Yemen-Eritrea, Politics, 11/2/2002

Yemen has sent a strong official protest to Eritrea yesterday and called on it to apologize over Asmara's accusations to Sanaa of forming an alliance with Addis Ababa and Khartoum seeking to impose a regional isolation against it and working to topple the regime of Asyas Afourki.

The Yemeni news agency said that the foreign ministry secretary Abdullah al-Rida handed over Eritrea's ambassador in Sanaa Muhammad Othman Rido "a warrant of protest" against what was issued by the Eritrean media on defaming Yemen and its leadership especially in the heads of states and political figures."

In a statement issued on Wednesday by its foreign ministry, Eritrea condemned what it described as an Ethiopian, Sudanese and Yemeni conspiracy "in order to attack Eritrea'.

Meantime, the Eritrea's presidency office denied Sudanese accusations of building up Eritrea's forces near the borders with Sudan.
