UNHCR calls for restoring contacts between sequestered sahrawis and their families in morocco
Morocco-Algeria, Politics, 10/30/2002
United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Ruud Lubbers, on Monday called for restoring contacts between Moroccan Sahrawis sequestered in the camps of Tindouf in Algeria and their families in Morocco.
"It is time to find ways likely to allow the Sahrawis of the camps of Tindouf restore contacts with their families in Morocco," Lubbers said in Geneva.
The reunion of families on each side of the Moroccan-Algerian borders should take into account "the aspirations and sufferings of the Sahrawi population and should be done within an essentially humanitarian optic," he said.
