Okaz: Al-Ahmar: It is not an honor for any country to take part in American military maneuvers

The Speaker of the Yemeni parliament Sheikh Abdullah al-Ahmar has criticized the participation of any Arab state in maneuvers with the American forces. He said "It is not an honor to any Arab country to take part with the US in the military maneuvers which recently took place in Jordan."

Replying to a question on the Yemeni view point in the joint American, Jordanian, Omani and UAE maneuvers recently held in Jordan, Sheikh al-Ahmar said "these are bad measures, any Arab country does not have the honor to take part in with the US under the critical conditions the region is passing of escalation in the Palestinian territories and threats targeting the Iraqi people. Two threats targeting the Arab nation."

In statements issued by the Saudi daily Okaz yesterday, al-Ahmad said "I criticize these maneuvers and taking part in it. Participating in these maneuvers is an act which dishonoring the Arab nation." Al-Ahmar added "relations with the US are not different from relations with other states. However, these relations are of special characteristics following September 11 after which all Arab and Israeli states and their peoples are put under the American telescope and have become a target."
