King Abdullah threatens to punish the killers of the US diplomat

In collaboration with American investigators, the Jordanian security departments started efforts to arrest the killer of the American diplomat Laurence Folley. Breaking in and storming acts were carried out in several camps and cities in the Kingdom during which scores of political activists were arrested, especially among the Islamists, whereas a clash took place in Maan city during which one wanted Islamists was wounded.
While a group naming itself "Shurafaa al-Aurdon" ( the honest people of Jordan) claimed responsibility for assassinating Folley and linked it to the American- Israeli attack against the Arab region. The Jordanian authorities played down the importance of this group's statement which was issued yesterday by the London - based al-Quds al-Arabi paper.
The Jordanian King who offered his condolences at the US embassy in Amman vowed to keep Jordan continuing its battle against terrorism.
The Jordanian King told the CNN during his visit to the premises of the American embassy in Amman to offer condolences "Such a crime is not deliberately acceptable in Jordan. And those who committed it will be brought before justice." The Jordanian news agency quoted the Jordanian king as saying "the shock created by the assassination of the American diplomat will not prevent us from working ahead in order to fighting terrorism and that Jordan will not be easy with every one who violates security and stability." The Jordanian King commended Folley, stressing that he had played "a main" role in the context of the activities of the American development agency in Jordan and that the agency's total aids provided to Jordan since its foundation in 1952 is estimated at more than 2 billion dollars.
News rumored the closing the American embassy in Amman with the exception of emergency services, while security measures were reinforced around the western embassies and diplomatic missions.
