Trial of al-Qaeda operatives suspects postponed
Morocco-Saudi Arabia, Local, 10/29/2002
A Casablanca court postponed this Monday to next December 25 the trial of a group of persons accused of belonging to Al-Qaeda.
The group of 10 suspects, comprising three Saudi Arabian nationals and seven Moroccans, were arrested last June. The police said they infiltrated Morocco and were preparing terrorist acts inside the country and other operations from the two Spanish-ruled cities of Sebta and Melilia against western ships crossing the Gibraltar strait.
The arrest, part of Morocco's commitment to fight international terrorism, was the result of a watchful, dynamic and efficient cooperation in security matters with foreign services, including Saudi and American ones, said Moroccan sources.
