Egypt, Jordan sign ten economic, trade agreements

The Egyptian-Jordanian Higher Committee yesterday wrapped up meetings of its 18th session with the signing of several agreements, protocols and memoranda of understanding.
The two-day session was held under the co-chairmanship of Egypt's Prime Minister Atef Ebeid and his Jordanian counterpart Ali Abu Al Ragheb.
According to the agreements signed between the two countries, a joint economic chamber will be established.
Agreements on land transport of passengers and goods, the operation of a regular navigational line between Taba and Aqaba as well as a memorandum of understanding on technical cooperation on the conservation of the environment were also signed.
Other agreements and protocols have been signed with the aim of boosting cooperation in cultural and scientific fields, contracting and construction domains, exhibitions, electricity and energy and manpower.
Ebeid said following the meeting that ministers and experts from the two states will meet every 6 months to follow up execution of these agreements and remove any obstacle that may hinder increasing trade exchange.
