American diplomat assassinated in the downtown, Amman

The US diplomat Laurence Folley was assassinated yesterday morning by an unidentified man while leaving his house for work at the US embassy in Amman.
The Jordanian government condemned the assassination act and stressed the investigations are underway to reveal the implications of this crime.
The Jordanian minister of information Muhammad al-Edwan said that the assassination of the US diplomat constitutes an aggression against Jordan and its security, regardless to reasons and intentions behind it. He described this act as a criminal act.
Eye- witnesses said that Folley who works for the US Aid agency was killed in the garage of the villa where he lived near Mecca trade street which is very crowded, and that the gun fire was launched by a car running in the place.
On the other hand, tough security measures were taken all around the US embassy and other western embassies.The killed diplomat was hit by several bullets in various parts of his body and that his wife informed the police about the incident.
According to security sources, the unidentified gunman fled after carrying out his attack. No side claimed responsibility for the event.
