Egyptian Customs Spoil Refurbishing Material for Morocco Pavilion in Cairo International Park
Egypt-Morocco, Politics, 10/25/2002
Customs in the port of Alexandria, Egypt, banned the delivery of building material, mostly rare mosaic and ceramic, sent to Cairo Governorate for the refurbishment of the Morocco pavilion in Cairo international park, until it became unusable.
"Al Moussaouwar" newspaper quoted sources in the governorate as saying the material were a gift of the Rabat commune.
The governorate of the Egyptian capital refused to pay the US$ 250,000 duties claimed by the customs administration.
The Rabat commune had in the eighties built a pavilion designed according to Moroccan typical architecture design and donated it to the governorate of Cairo.
