Iran-Iraq, Politics, 10/22/2002
The spokesman for the Iranian foreign ministry, Hameed Rida Asifi, has described the rumor on that Iran had offered two military bases for the American forces to attack Iraq as lies and groundless.
In statements to press yesterday in Tehran, Asifi said that offering a military base for the foreign forces is in contradiction with the policy pursued by Iran, built on not resorting to force for solving problems.
Asifi indicated that Tehran stresses the need of solving the Iraqi crisis by peaceful means and through the UN.
