al-Sharq al-Awsat: American diplomat killed in Yemen

The London based al-Sharq al-Awsat daily said yesterday that an American diplomat was killed in vague circumstances on Saturday in Yemen.

The paper added quoted well informed sources in Sanaa as saying that the US diplomat was found killed inside his car near Bajel city on the road between Sanaa and al-Hudida city.

The paper added that news were prevented to highlight the incident, especially as it took place just hours after the visit of the commander of the American central forces Tommy Francs to Sanaa on Thursday, where he held talks with Yemeni officials on means of fighting terrorism.

The sources said that medical investigations showed the American diplomat was exposed to a traffic accident during his travel. However, no final reasons were found for the death. The deceased is not a member of the permanent American staff in the embassy, rather among who carry out special missions.
