Iraq returns back the Kuwaiti archive
Iraq-Kuwait, Politics, 10/19/2002
A caravan of five trucks left Baghdad on Friday heading for the Iraqi- Kuwaiti borders carrying millions of documents from the Kuwaiti archive which Iraq had decided to return back to Kuwait.
The chairman of the second political department at the Iraqi foreign ministry ambassador, Ghassan Mohsin Hussein, who escorted the caravan said in a statement that the caravan includes the Kuwaiti national archive. He explained that the caravan "is now heading " to al-Abdali center at the Iraqi- Kuwaiti borders where the documents will be handed to the Kuwaiti authorities in the presence of a representative for the UN.
Hussein considered that this operation falls in the course of Iraq's announcement during the recent Beirut Arab summit in April this year to restore back the Kuwaiti national archive and within the framework of the UN agreements and the participation of a representative for the Arab League.
