Qathafi gets a message from John Garang
Libya-Sudan, Politics, 10/17/2002

Libya's Leader of the Revolution Colonel Muammar al Qathafi on Tuesday evening received a telephone call from the leader of the rebel movement in southern Sudan, John Garang, relating to current events in southern Sudan and the agreement signed recently between the Sudanese government and the rebels in order to stop war acts between the two sides.

During his telephone call, Garang stressed his commitment to this agreement and to the Mashakos agreement in order to put an end to the war and proceeding towards peace. He expressed his conviction that the team sent by al-Qaddafi for fact finding on the difference arising between Eritrea and Sudan is doing the best in its mission.

Garang also asked Qathafi to send another team to southern Sudan for fact finding, showing his readiness to cooperate with this team and to accept the Libyan efforts aiming at establishing security and peace all over Sudan.
