'Yes, Saddam' vote by the Iraqis
Iraq, Politics, 10/16/2002
The Iraqis on Tuesday voted for the extension of a new term of office for the Iraqi President Saddam Hussein for additional seven years in an event which was viewed by the White House as "not serious," while considered by the former Algerian President Ahmad Bin Bella as "a wedding for democracy."
Very early in the day on Tuesday the Iraqis took the streets of Baghdad and chanted slogans commemorating Saddam Hussein.
