Saudi Arabia to impose restrictions on entry of Americans
Saudi Arabia-USA, Politics, 10/14/2002
The Saudi minister of the interior, Prince Nayef Bin Abdul Aziz, on Sunday announced that Saudi Arabia decided to subject the American citizens who visit Saudi Arabia to the same restrictions imposed the US imposes on passengers from certain Arab states including Saudi Arabia.
Prince Nayef said to reporters that this measure includes "taking the finger prints of the Americans" and this will be on the ground of reciprocated treatment.
On the other hand the Saudi deputy minister of the interior for security affairs, Prince Muhammad Bin Nayef Bin Abdul Aziz, last week visited the US during which he met with officials at the US administration with the aim of "affirming bilateral cooperation" and finding out the extent of the American security cooperation with the Saudi counterparts in the area of fighting terrorism.
According to the new US law which has been enforced since the first of this month ( October), foreign passengers have to register their names at the immigration department upon their arrival to the American territories, and that prints and photos of certain persons should be taken and those passengers have to brief the authorities on "their trip program in the USA."
