Al-Rai al-Aam: Eritrea's defense minister arrested for refusal to attack East Sudan

Well-informed political sources in Asmara said that the Eritrean President Asyas Afourki has put his defense minister Sabhat Afreim under arrest because he rejected his country's participation in the recent aggression against East Sudan.

The sources told the Sudanese daily al-Rai al-Aam in its Saturday's issue that Afourki assigned his foreign minister Ali Abdullah to assume the tasks of the ministry of defense, noting that the meeting during which a plan was drawn to attack East Sudan was attended by President Afourki, the leader of the rebels movement John Garang, several political and military leaderships and several American figures who are effective in the American decision making.
