Kasla governor says rebels may attack again

Lt. Gen. Adams Hamid Mousa, the Wali (governor) of Kasla, east Sudan, said that it is not ruled out that the rebel movement will carry out another military operation with the support of the Eritrean army before the resumption of negotiations between the government and the rebels in Mashakos, Kenya.
Lt. Gen. Mousa told the Sudanese daily al-Rai al-Am on Sunday that the attack which took place on September 3rd against 8 positions in the eastern front of Sudan aimed at occupying the city of Kasla, on the one hand and occupying Hamshkorib and controlling the road which links Khartoum to port Sudan.
Mousa explained that the number of killed rebels reached 700, of whom 500 were killed in Khour Kibriet and 200 in Doulib.
He stressed that the recent aggression is the most dangerous of its kind since 1994, due to Eritrea's direct participation in it.
He stressed that fierce fighting is still continuous in the country amid Eritriean military build up along the borders and that life has returned back to normalcy in Kasla city and its surrounding.
