Human rights in Islam probed in Rabat

The Moroccan capital of Rabat will host this October 17-18 a colloquy on "Human Rights in Islam," organized by the Saudi Cultural Center in Morocco.
Participants will debate public and private law in Islam, the rights of non-Muslims in Islam and the state's responsibilities in protecting human rights.
Themes to be discussed are "Globalization, Islam and human rights," "Human rights: dialogue of Islam and the West," "Islamic declarations of human rights," "the Islamic world and International human rights charters," "the universality of Islam and issues of human rights" and "human rights and particularity of Charia (Islamic law)."
The colloquy, to be held in collaboration with the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences of Rabat, will be opened in the presence of the Moroccan and Saudi ministers of justice.
Moroccan and Saudi academics, researchers and civil society members will be taking part in the colloquy.
