Two Palestinians killed by Israel, 24 new settlement buildings
Palestine-Israel, Military, 10/12/2002
The Israeli occupation forces bombarded with heavy artillery houses of Beit Hanoun, to the north of Gaza, and heavy losses were inflicted as a result. The Palestinian youth Tareq Qadeih ( 14 year old) and Fatheyah al-Soufi ( 47 year old) died because of their wounds which they had during the Israeli forces storming in of the city of Khan Younis and the artillery bombardment against Rafah.
In Rafah several Palestinians were hit by the Israeli forces which prevented the Palestinians form entering al-Aqsa mosque to perform Friday's prayers under the pretext that those Palestinians were preparing for confrontation similar to those erupted last Friday at the mosque's courtyard.
In a report, the applied research institute Areij said that the Israeli authorities are carrying out settlement works to create 24 settlement new buildings of a total area of 1679 dunnums. The institute said other 113 new settlement buildings were built to be converted into permanent settlements, noting that these settlements were built in the West Bank between 2001- 2002.
The report said that the Israeli government aims out of these vast operations to tighten its control and isolate the Palestinian areas and cities and separate them geographically from each other.
Meantime, the Democratic Front For the Liberation of Palestine claimed responsibility for the operation which targeted on Friday morning two Israeli cars near Natsanit settlement to the north of Beit Hanoun. The front explained that several of its groups ambushed the two cars and attacked them with bullets and mortars and this resulted in wounding one of its passengers.
Meantime, Hamas claimed responsibility for the Palestinian operation near Tel Aviv on Thursday which resulted in killing one Israeli woman settler and wounding other 30, noting that this operation comes as a reaction to the Israeli crimes and a revenge to the martyrs of Gaza and Khan Younis.
On the Israeli side, the chairman of Meretz bloc in the Israeli Knesset said that the best solution to end the bloody confrontations in the occupied territories is to establish the Palestinian state. He said that the idea of international authorization in the Palestinian territories and deployment of UN forces in Gaza and the West bank is the only idea that can be implemented.
