Moroccan NGOs hands US ambassador memo on Iraq
Morocco-USA, Politics, 10/11/2002
A delegation of Moroccan civil society associations on Thursday handed US ambassador to Morocco, Ms. Margaret Tutwiller, a memorandum, denouncing the American administration's policy in the Middle-East, a policy described by the NGOs as "hostile to the Palestinian and Iraqi peoples."
The Memo, signed by twelve associations, rejects "the aggressive policy of the United States towards Arab countries." The document attacked the US administration for its backing to the Israeli war machine and its threat against Iraq.
"We express our deep concern" over the American threats against Iraq, the associations said. They warned against any military action that will spare neither the infrastructures of Iraq nor the civilian population.
The Moroccan Press Union (SNPM), which is among these associations, said the memo handed to the US ambassador is part of a series of initiatives to attract the US administration's attention to the threats looming on Arab states because of the US standpoints.
