Three US Marines wounded in Kuwait
Kuwait-USA, Politics, 10/11/2002

The US embassy in Kuwait said on Thursday that the three American soldiers who were wounded in north Kuwait on Thursday are suffering serious but not fatal wounds.

Sources at the embassy said that the explosion took place at 11 a.m. ( local time ) during a maneuver in al-Aydre' area and the explosion resulted in wounding the three American soldiers who were admitted to one of the medical centers close to the site of the maneuvers.

News reports said many of the Kuwaitis view the executors of the attack against the American soldiers in Filka island, Anas al-Kandari and Jasem al-Hajiri, as two examples of confronting the Americans in this country which is considered the main ally for the US in the Gulf.

Eye- witnesses said many of the Kuwaitis on Wednesday took part in the funeral of the two youths who were described by the American and Kuwaiti authorities as two terrorists.

Al-Kandari and al-Hajiri attacked the American soldiers who were carrying out joint maneuvers with the Kuwaiti army in Filka island, 20 Kilometers from the capital Kuwait and killed one US trooper and wounded another before they were killed by the US army bullets.

The secretary general of the Kuwaiti Salafeyah islamic movement, Hakim al-Mteiri, said that the cemetery where the funeral was held was crowded by thousands of Kuwaitis and most of them refused to pray for the two killed Kuwaitis because "the martyr, as recommended by prophet Muhammad, is not washed nor prayed at during the funeral." Al-Kuwaiti also stressed that there is a public rejection in Kuwait for the US military presence in the Gulf and the current preparations to attack Iraq.

He added that the two killed Kuwaitis are viewed by the Kuwaiti people, outside the official media, as heroes and martyrs.

Muhammad al-Hajiri, brother of Jasem al-Hajiri, one of the two attackers who fell in the attack against the American soldiers "my brother is not a terrorist and the decision of the US Congress's decision, considering Jerusalem as a capital for Israel had provoked him."
