Presided by al-Assad, Syrian NPF central command meets on developments, Palestine and Iraq
Syria-Regional, Politics, 10/8/2002
Syria's President Bashar al-Assad on Monday in Damascus presided over a meeting for the central command of the National Progressive Front.
In its meeting, the central command reviewed latest developments on the Arab, regional and international arenas, especially the "practices conducted by the Israeli government in the occupied Palestinian territories in violating UN resolutions and norms." They also discussed the threats to direct a military attack against Iraq despite the fact that Iraq announced its acceptance of the UN resolutions relating to the return back of the UN inspectors.
The central command commended the Palestinian uprising in its third year of struggle and condemned threats which target the Arabs and Muslims and their countries and described these threats as a threat to the world peace and security.
The Syrian NPF's central command also reviewed directives relating to strengthening national unity and revitalizing the role of the NPF.
