Assafir: French ambassador vows Chirac support for the Lebanese

The French ambassador in Beirut has stated that the French President Jacques Chirac carries a strong message of support to the Lebanese during the forthcoming Franchophonic summit which will be held in Beirut this month.

In a statement with the Lebanese daily Assafir issued on Monday, the ambassador said that France had worked relentlessly in order to convene this summit in Lebanon because this country enjoys all necessary merits to host the summit in best conditions. He indicated the results expected from this summit which are mainly the dialogue of civilizations and discussing challenges the Franchophonic organization is facing.

The ambassador underlined the close partnership between Lebanon and France and that Lebanon is the number one negotiator in the Arab region for France. He also noted his country's economic support for Lebanon.
