Russia urges the return back of UN inspectors to Iraq
Iraq-Russia, Politics, 10/7/2002
The Russian foreign minister Igor Ivanov said that Russia considers that the quick return back of the UN inspectors to Iraq is very important.
In a statement he made on Saturday, Ivanov added that the first group of the UN inspectors will arrive in Iraq on October 19, noting the importance of their arrival in Baghdad at this date.
He added that legally speaking, there is no need to take new resolutions at the UN security council concerning the Iraqi issue.
The Russian minister indicated that the consultation and proposals at the UN Security Council should not obstruct the quick return back of those inspectors to Iraq.
