Solana visits the Middle East

It was announced in Brussels on Saturday that the higher representative for security and foreign policy of the European Union EU, Javier Solana, will hold this week a tour on the Middle East aiming at ending the catastrophic conditions of the Palestinian people as a result of the continued Israeli besiegement.
A Press statement issued by Solana's office explained that Solana's tour which was due to start on Sunday ( yesterday) and will continue until Wednesday will cover Jordan, Egypt, the occupied Palestinian territories and Israel.
Press officials at Solana's office said that the EU position concerning the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories is to urge the two Palestinian and Israeli sides to abide by UN security council resolution no. 1435 and the need to return back to the table of negotiations.
