Iraq: Three wounded in raids against the south; Maneuvers in Kuwait

Southern Iraq was exposed to a British- American new attack that resulted in wounding three persons at a time when Kuwait has been witnessing military maneuvers with a main American participation including training on how to invade coasts and face chemical and biological attacks.

An Iraqi military spokesman in Baghdad said that three Iraqis were wounded in raids launched by US and British jet fighters against Iraqi civil and service establishments in the south. He explained that the fighters came from the Kuwaiti airspace and launched attacks against al-Kout area situated 170 Km to the south of Baghdad and resulted in wounding three citizens.

In Kuwait which has started a series of measures for self protection, the foreign minister announced that Kuwait was provided with US anti- missile Patriot batteries.

The Kuwaiti news agency quoted the foreign minister as saying that "Kuwait has the privilege of having 10 patriot missile batteries while Israel has only four." On the possibility of sheltering Iraqis in Kuwait in case of an American attack is made against their country, the Kuwaiti foreign minister said "those Iraqis will be placed in the area of the 10- Km border and they will be supplied by humanitarian needs, according to international agreements to that effect."
