Mubarak inaugurates first stage of the second underground line

Egypt's President Mubarak inaugurated the first stage of the second underground line in Greater Cairo. This project is the first-ever in Africa and the Middle East and aims to link the different areas of the capital and its suburbs with a quick and regular means of transportation which also preserves the environment. This subway was initiated in 1987 and would consist eventually of three lines with a length of 68.2 kilometers
