Interior minister proclaims results of legislative poll

Moroccan Interior Minister, Driss Jettou, proclaimed Sunday evening the results of the legislative elections, held September 27. The results cover 295 seats out of the 325 seats of the House of Representatives.
Results concerning the remaining 30 seats reserved for women are yet to be proclaimed.
The results announced by Jettou on Sunday confirm the trend that appeared from the partial and unofficial results he announced Saturday night.
The list is topped by the Socialist Union of Popular Forces (USFP, leading the center-left coalition government) with 45 seats, followed by the Istiqlal Party (PI, in government) with 43 seats. The National Rally of Independents (RNI, center/in government) and the Justice and Development Party (PJD, Islamist) come next with 38 seats each.
Here follows the ranking of Parties according to their scores, as announced by the Interior Minister:
- The Socialist Union of Popular Forces (USFP): 45 Seats
- The Istiqlal Party (PI): 43 seats
- The National Rally of Independents (RNI): 38 seats
- The Justice and Development Party (PJD): 38 seats
- The Popular Movement (MP): 25 seats
- The National Popular Movement (MNP): 16 seats
- The Constitutional Union (UC): 14 seats
- The National Democrat Party (PND): 10 seats
- The Front of Democratic Forces (FFD): 10 seats
- The Party for Progress and Socialism (PPS): 09 seats
- The Democratic Union (UD): 09
- The Social Democratic Movement (MDS): 07 seats
- the Socialist Democratic Party (PSD): 06 seats
- Al- Ahd Party: 05 seats
- The Alliance of Freedoms: 04 seats
- The Unified Socialist Left (GSU): 03 seats
- Reform and Development Party (PRD): 03 seats
- Moroccan Liberal Party (PML): 03 seats
- Environment and Development Party (PED): 02 seats
- Citizenship Forces (FC): 02 seats
- Independence and Democratic Party (PDI): 02 seats.
- National Ittihadi Congress (CNI): 01 seat
The results shall be endorsed by the Constitutional Council to become valid.
Seven of these parties are forming the current center-left coalition government led by Prime Minister Abderrahmpane Youssoufi, First secretary of the USFP. These are the USFP, the PI, the RNI, the MNP, the FFD, the PPS and the PDS.
26 political parties vied for legislative seats. The House of Representatives is elected for a five-year term.
