Official underscores Egyptian-US business council members' visit to Washington
Egypt-USA, Economics, 9/28/2002
Ibrahim Eweis, the Chairman of the Egyptian-US Business Council, underscored the visit to be paid by the council members to Washington, slated for October 4.
ÊÊÊ In an interview with Cairo Radio Friday morning, Eweis said that the council's plan of action during the visit involves means to develop trade relations, work on upping Egyptian exports to the United States and attract American investments to Egypt.
ÊÊÊ ÒThe plan also includes ways to transfer US modern technology to upgrade Egyptian industry and promote its competitiveness within the framework of the draft agreement on free trade between the two sides,Ó he added.
ÊÊÊ He noted that one of the focal points at present is to increase foreign investments from the United States to Egypt.
ÊÊÊ ÒEgypt was among the countries that did not employ their full capacity to attract American investments like the way eastern Asian nations did,Ó said Eweis.
ÊÊÊ He said increasing exports to the united States would not only redress the trade balance deficit but will provide hard currency a well.
