E-Morocco strategy, a national ambition
Morocco, Economics, 9/28/2002

The e-Morocco strategy, which aims to integrate the use of information technologies in education, training and administrative and economic sectors, is a "national ambition," the Moroccan Secretariat of State of Posts, Telecommunication and Information Technologies said.

The strategy is part of the information technologies development policy, the department said in a document made public on the occasion of the 16th plenipotentiary conference of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), held in Marrakesh September 23-October 18.

The document said it has activated the three-phase AdmiNet project which aims to set up a multimedia center in every school, high school and faculty, to train some 5,000 cadres a year in the field and the conversion of some 10,000 scientific graduates to new careers.

Other objectives of the project are to develop a program for administration online and to modernize and rationalize the management of state affairs.

The first phase of the project is meant to study and plan the strategy to be followed in the AdmiNet, while the second deals with the development of pilot experiments. The last phase concerns the generalization and activation of the strategy.
