Sudanese forces restore back Madal town

The Sudanese news agency said that the government forces restored back from the rebellions a town which is situated in the "Blue Nile" area near the border with Ethiopia, stressing that heavy losses were inflicted in the line of the rebels movement.
The agency quoted the army leader in the Blue Nile province, Lt. Gen. Muhammad Mahmoud Jame', that the fourth al-Shammara force and the people's defense forces on Monday entered Mada town and liberated it following fierce fighting with the rebels.
He added that the government forces and the militias inflected heavy losses on the rebels and confiscated heavy weapons including three T 55 tanks, three mortars, 7 heavy machine guns and light weapons and ammunition.
Jame' stressed that Madal area is considered an strategic center for the rebels.
On Wednesday the rebels announced that the Sudanese government has been launching large scale attacks since five days against their positions in three fronts which are the cities of Mayo and Lair near the oil rich areas in the west of the higher Nile province; the two cities of Jouba and Tourit and al-Madal in the Blue Nile province.
The Sudanese government had signed an agreement with the rebels on July 20 which states a self rule phase of six years for the south to be followed by a referendum on self determination.
