Bahraini women call for having civil status law
A group of women activists in Bahrain on Tuesday handed a memorandum for the minister of justice and Islamic affairs in Bahrain, Sheikh Abdullah Bin Khaled al-Khaleifa, including, in particular the demand to release a united "civil status law," and canceling the Sharia judiciary and bringing civil status issues before civilians courts.

Syria prevents the two mobile phone companies from transferring sums abroad without consent
Well-informed sources in Damascus said that the Syrian minister of telecommunications Muhammad Bashir al-Munajjid issued a decision on September 19 in which he made it compulsory for the two mobile phone companies in Damascus to allocate all their revenues of subscription and bills in the specialized Syrian banks, and to prevent the transfer of these sums abroad, unless they receive the approval from the telecommunications establishment to show the reason and objective behind the transfer.

Bush urges postponement of Congressional bill on Syria sanctions

Israel continue aggression acts on Palestinians, nine killed, 50 wounded
The Israeli occupation forces on Tuesday committed new acts of aggression against the Palestinian citizens with the Israeli tanks, backed by Apache planes, broke into the city of Gaza from various angles and opened fire at the Palestinian houses in Beit Lahia, al-Shuja'eya quarters and al-Zeitoun and this resulted in killing nine Palestinians and wounding more than 50 including many children.

Egypt's President Hosni Mubarak on Tuesday received a message from the Iraqi President Saddam Hussein conveyed by the Iraqi foreign minister Naji Sabri during his meeting with Mubarak yesterday morning. Following the meeting, Sabri said the message pertains to the American threats against Iraq and the difficult conditions the Middle East region is passing as well as means of strengthening relations between Egypt and Iraq, and revitalizing their bilateral cooperation.

Syria's President Bashar al-Assad on Tuesday received the chairman of the higher council of the Bulgarian socialist party, who is also the chairman of the parliamentary group and coalition for Bulgaria, and members of the accompanying delegation. The meeting was attended by the assistant secretary general of the Baath Party Abdullah al-Ahmar. Discussions dealt with friendship and cooperation relations between the two parties and countries and means of strengthening them.

The Iraqi TV said Tuesday that Iraq's President Saddam Hussein appointed on Tuesday four new governors. The TV explained that Saddam Hussein appointed Lieut. Gen. Eyed Mukhlif Al-Ajeely as a governor for al-Najaf and Lieut. Gen. Waleed Hameed Tawfeeq as a governor to al-Basra, Turky Beidar Al-Luizy as a governor for Dayali and Ibrahim Shuja' as a governor for Babel.
