Lebanon bags top prize at Alexandria's international film festival

A Lebanese movie won the top prize at Alexandria's 18th international film festival which wound up on Monday. The movie "Lamma Hakayto Maryam" (when I narrated Maryam) also won the best actress prize, gleaned by Nadit Hadib.

"Behind Gibraltar," a Moroccan-Belgian co-production by Mourad Boussif and Taylan Barman, won the prizes of the best first movie, of the best actor and of the best support actor. Moroccan actress, Latifa Ahrar, also won the best support actress prize for the movie "Mouna Saber."

The Alexandria festival in Egypt and the Mediterranean cinema festival of Tetuan (northern Morocco) signed on the occasion a twinning agreement providing for exchange of visits, expertise and data. The two festivals managers will be endeavoring, under the agreement, to develop a sort of pool or union of Arab cinema festivals.
